Some of the most sophisticated medical technology available has been specially developed for the dental profession. At Tweed Smilecare we are committed to ensuring you receive only the best in treatment care and comfort, which is why our practice is equipped with the most leading-edge technology available.
CEREC
One of the most advanced technological pieces of equipment in our practice is our CEREC machine. Crowns, veneers, and other tooth restorations would normally be made in a dental laboratory, require messy moulds to be made, and take two weeks to complete. Using a CEREC machine enables one of our dentists to create and secure your new replacement teeth in a single appointment visit, saving you time and expense.
OPG
While you are standing with your chin resting on a shelf to stabilise your head, this machine scans your entire profile by travelling in a semi-circular motion around your face. This will produce a full mouth panoramic image; this detailed x-ray is useful for treatment planning of periodontal disease, complex restorative procedures, dental implants and wisdom teeth removal.
Happy gas
With a long and successful history in medicine for pain relief, happy gas is safe to use on children and adults, with its affects wearing off only minutes after you cease inhalation.
Digital radiography
To provide you with a more efficient service, we have installed digital radiography. Emitting only 10% of the radiation of traditional x-rays, they provide highly detailed images that can be viewed almost instantly on an overhead monitor; this allows our dentists and hygienists to point out problem area while you are still in the chair.
Diagnodent
Early detection of dental caries is essential to our preventative treatment philosophy. The diagnodent machine consists of a pen-like probe that can detect even the smallest sign of caries formation, which may not be noticeable with the naked eye. Early detection and intervention helps prevent tooth decay, and means less treatment is required and often eliminates the need for fillings. |
