Although in-surgery whitening is popular, some of our patients prefer the privacy and comfort of their own home for their whitening treatment. Using custom-made trays, similar in design to a sport mouthguard, they are designed to fit snugly over your teeth allowing for maximum contact to your tooth's surface while protecting your gums.
One of our dental professionals will instruct you on the use of the gel and the quantity to apply to your trays and how long to wear them. Although the results can be similar to those achieved by the two-hour treatment, because the gel is not being activated by the light, your desired results may take between 10 - 20 days to achieve.
Teeth whitening treatments have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they're completely safe to use, the only affect some patients may experience is slight sensitivity to hot and cold, however this will subside several days after completing your treatment. If you experience sensitivity whilst using the at home treatment you should cease application for a few days. Often the use of desensitising toothpaste or tooth mousse can alleviate the problem.
